More and more same-sex couples are starting families, and we’re here to support that!
Marriage and equal rights enshrined in law, have opened up the opportunity for same-sex couples to start a family of their own. While there have always been gay and lesbian parents, changes in society have made it possible for younger couples to start a family earlier, and with far more options and support. These are amazing advancements for gay and lesbian couples, and we’re here to help, advise and celebrate these options.
We’ve been following the journey of one plucky young couple from Leeds, and their surrogacy experience, which resulted in a healthy baby son for the proud dads. We’re looking forward to covering more gay and lesbian paths to parenthood, and answering your questions too.
Where do you start?
One of the best things about living in the 21st century, is that it’s possible for a same-sex couple to start a family in several different ways. Lesbian couples can use donor sperm, gay couples sometimes opt for a surrogate to carry the baby, and both have the same adoption rights as heterosexual couples (in the UK at least).
There’s a lot to get your head around, but it’s possible to start a family within a few months, once you have the right information!
